SEMA 2013 - Go Fast Bits Short Shifters for Subaru WRX & STI

SEMA 2013 - Circuit Motorsports talks to Brett of Go Fast Bits about their new Subaru WRX and STi Adjustable Short-shifters and their unique advantage over other shifter kits.

This is not your basic short shifter, a shorter lever as a direct replacement for your stock shifter, giving you a shorter throw. This kit has some engineering designed into it to solve some issues with going "too short" on your shifter.

The lower collar will actually lock into place, keeping the shifter from bottoming out on the transmission case. It gives you 3 heights to adjust for the locking collar, and then a ton of adjustment for you to slide the shifter lever up and down to set your desired height. So you could basically have the advantages of a very short throw, but keep your shift lever/knob at stock height. Very cool.

I actually prefer to have a short throw, but a stock height, or even higher, shift knob location. I have always hated the extremely low shift knob position that seemed very popular with most import tuners in years past. I have actually purchased extensions just to get the knob up to the height i wanted it at with a standard short shifter kit. So this kit, designed to give you maximum adjustability while keeping everything operating in the correct areas, is a really nice idea.

GFB also goes the extra step and gives you an installation tool to make the job that much easier, nice touch guys.

I think I'll have to add this to my list of must have upgrades for the CMS STI.
